busaikko

busaikko began reading HP fanfiction circa 2004, having arrived from an intense fascination with the Vetinari/Vimes ship (very likely Copperbadge/Sam Vimes is to blame). After several mad 7-hour reading sprees during which archives such as The Parapet were inhaled, it was inevitable that busaikko would turn her hand from writing the worst sort of V/V hurt/comfort to writing in her HP pairing of choice, Snape/Lupin.

What was rather a surprise was that she actually typed the stuff out and - hand held tightly by Michael Chance of Master and the Wolf - published to the Fourth Wave of the Master and the Wolf F-Q-F (R and D (NC17) (May 2005, my first story evah), Dream of Me (PG13) and Inventory (PG13) (May 2005), and Carnal Knowledge (NC17) (Aug. 2005)). Her original pen name was Busaikko Baby, but with the opening of her LiveJournal account (May 22, 2005), she became busaikko. (The name means 'ugly girl' in Japanese. No, it's not her real name!) Her first story on LJ was Even the Moon (R), and it's all been downhill from there....

busaikko has a Table of Contents. She has a woefully un-updated SkyeHawke account, and may also be found in Moonshadow. She writes half-and-half Snupin and Remus/Sirius. It works for her.

busaikko's stories range from the very silly (The 500 Socks of Severus Snape PG) to the dark and dystopian (If Winter Ends NC17) to the romantic (Double Happiness Masala NC17). Most are a combination of all three: for example, Ten Aprils (NC17) is my novel-length saga of defeating Voldemort with fruitcake; or perhaps it is the story of making peace with the past and overcoming even the hardest obstacles with love and understanding; it is incidentally MPreg and has non-explicit torture and very explicit goats. And fruitcake, did I mention the fruitcake? (please forgive the first person intrusion: busaikko got a little carried away.)

busaikko's life in fandom began with a kindergarten fascination with Star Trek, but soon she was possessed by anime. The first fanfic she wrote was a 50-something page Uchusenkan Yamato saga, in elementary school. She played with (and tortured) dolls well into high school, but now that she is a mature and sensible adult, she just plays with characters. She enjoys taking long walks, listening to music, and laughing hard enough to cry. She has a real life and all that, but she enjoys the freedom and pleasure of being known for her work. The fandom is incredibly supportive and welcoming, so busaikko encourages all lurkers and all those with longhand manuscripts shoved under the futon to venture in. She's thrilled to be here.

She also talks about herself in the third person. All the time. Go figure.
