Snegurochka

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 3 months ago

I first joined the Harry Potter fandom with the release of Order of the Phoenix in the summer of 2003, and began writing fanfic just under a year later. I had never actually read any fanfic before I wrote my first story; a friend online asked what I thought of Snape/Lupin as a pairing, and my eyes went wide. "I think it sounds brilliant!" I recall telling her, and then I grabbed my quill and parchment.

The result was Not Love, an admittedly clichéd and slightly wince-inducing first foray into fanfic in general, and Snape/Lupin in particular. It was a nice springboard into the ship, though, and I met many new Snape/Lupin fans through that story. By the time I wrote the sequel 9 months later, Habit, I was a hopeless shipper of this pairing.

I've since written quite a few stories about our heroes, running the gamut from angsty adult-era romance (Habit, Caustic: A Love Story in Five Acts), to Marauders-era angst (Lupin's Worst Memory), to a bit of nasty darkfic (Match Point (Unforgiven), A Method of Annullment), to a sprawling kinky epic (The Adventures of Remus J. Lupin, Aspiring Sex God).

I love this pairing for its angst potential: two spies, two lonely men, two intellectuals who never really fit in, two men who have been betrayed and distrusted by those closest to them… who can never quite get past a childhood animosity to see how much they have in common. Once they do see it, though, they are fiercely loyal to each other. I also love the idea of this pairing as a scorching hot passionate affair – a we shouldn't be doing this but I just can't keep my hands off you sort of thing. Both men are so complicated, and so intense, that I think they could bring out the anger and passion and blazing intimacy in the other. Since I first started writing fanfic I have branched out to several other different pairings and genres, but I always come back to Snape/Lupin. It's just irresistible!

A full list of my stories can be found in two places: my website, Fanfiction by Snegurochka, and in the Snape/Lupin Masterlist at my Live Journal. You may also read an author interview that I did for the Snupin Prophet in December 2005, and two yearly writing retrospectives that I've done: the 2005 Year in Review, and the 2006 Year in Review.

As of January 2007 I am working on completing a 100quills table for Snape/Lupin, which requires writing 50 ficlets about the pairing according to various prompts. Everything I write gets posted to my Live Journal first (username snegurochka_lee), so feel free to stop by there for updates. After that it usually goes to my website, and then to a few archives: Moonshadow, Sycophant Hex, Skyehawke, and The Archive at the End of the Universe.

I also recommend a fair bit of Snape/Lupin fic and art at my Live Journal, under the Snape/Lupin recs tag, and I maintain lupin100, a drabble community for Lupin-centric work which regularly features quite a bit of Snape/Lupin content.
