I read Harry Potter fanfiction for about a year before I finally de-lurked. I started out in canon pairings (Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione), and moved into slash when I saw a hint of Sirius/Remus in a Harry/Ginny fic. Thus began the slow descent into my OTP.
Dovielr's Staffroom Seduction was the first Snape/Lupin I read. (It was also the first BDSM that I read.) I can’t remember how I found it, or linked to it, but I was intrigued by the pairing and I gained a tremendous amount of understanding and respect toward those who need and choose a BDSM relationship. It’s set during Prisoner of Azkaban, so naturally the ending killed me. I haven’t read it since that first time, but I’ll always remember the story fondly as my first Snape/Lupin.
After Staffroom Seduction, I went on a search for Snape/Lupin fics and came across McKay's Chocolate Frog website. I think The Way of the World was the one of the first fics I read there, and it’s still one of my favorites. I love Remus striking out on his own and Severus coming to find him, and I adore the growing sexual tension between them and how stunning Severus looks in Muggle clothes.
DovieLR may have tweaked my interesting in the pairing, but McKay solidified it. I was on my way to an OTP. I read every story and archive McKay linked to in the Snape/Lupin Starter Kit and each new fic I read drew me further and further in.
The Treacle Tart is still one of my favorite authors. While Still Life and Evolution seem to be her classics, I fell in love with Painless and The Very Air He Breathed. In Painless, the image of Snape carefully tending Lupin’s wounds while reminiscing about regrets and could-have-beens just made me fall for Snape – head over heels. And in The Very Air He Breathed, I got to watch Snape fall for Lupin.
That was it. They belonged together.
I found the Lupin_Snape Communityand had a blissful time reading everything and poking around the archives. Finally, lore issued a Lurker's Challenge on the community - on July 7, 2006, I created my LJ account and began commenting on art and fics and getting more involved in the community. It wasn't too long before I dove into the Drabble challenge, and then Snupin Santa.
I went from writing under a thousand words per drabble/ficlet, to writing approximately 26,000 in Stand Still.
I'm still proud of that story, but I like to think each story I write gets progressively better as I mature as a writer. Currently, I have way too many projects going on, but I'm definitely still having fun. There are way too many plot bunnies, and way too little time, but I have high hopes of getting to all of them someday.
Some of my Writing:
A City Without Walls
The Only Way to Wear a Kilt
That Which Is Required
Second Time Around
Comfort
Potussa Carbonate
The Arbour
